Heroes of Newerth open beta ?
This last week S2 games announced that Heroes of Newerth will be moving to the next stage of testing very soon.
So with Open beta around the corner and already over 4.2 million… yes million games played,any doubts about the future success of HoN start to dwindle. Can anything can stop this monster ?
Well… yes,
Starcraft 2 : Release date first half of 2010.
Diablo III : Release date 2010, quarter unknown.
League of Legends : In closed beta.
Along with others…
So what will happen to our community when these, unquestionably bandit title’s get released?
We are already seeing growth of the LoL community, regardless of the fact the majority of them are under the age of 12 and couldn’t tell the difference between a good RTS and their elbow. But that’s just my personal opinion.
The hardcore Starcraft and Diablo fans among the HoN community will be beyond any doubt buying and exclusively playing their respective titles, unless they turn out to be somewhat of a blunder.
Where does your loyalty stand, will you be playing playing Heroes of Newerth in a years time ?

There is no need for monogamy here. I think its a heresy to compare league of legends with Diablo and Starcraft, since they are probably amongst the top 5 games men ever created. But HON is the first ‘dota-style’ game, a genre I believe will become more and more popular. And its success is unquestionable.
So probably hardcore gamers will buy them all, making everybody happy and the industry develop, but will play them alternatively. That’s what I’ll probably do.
(Not league of legends though, I have no faith in it)
huh? how is Diablo3 associated to HoN??? you could as well list all other games that come out this or next year, like Left4Dead2…
Even StarCraft 2 is not really the same game…
LoL is similar to HoN, but i have yet to find one who played both games, and say LoL is better than HoN…
HoN is great, and the only game i have already preordered..
I think HoN is the game for years (i already preordered it) and i don’t see how SC II, Diablo III, MW2 or whatever else can take me from HoN. Surely i play other games too but there’s no need for monogamy here, like Animall said
also Diablo 3 is confirmed that its NOT going to be released 2010 (according to blizzard staff @ blizzcon) they said that SC2 wings of liberty and WoW: cataclysm is the only games that will be released during the year 2010
ok don’t talk about LoL like a competitor… the graphics SUCK. so much. gameplay’s ok, but its like playing pokemon. Seriously it’s not a competitor to HON. I agree with the rest of the article but im a HON person, most definitely.
I will be getting Diablo 3 ofc ^^ maybe starcraft but i will definately not be getting LoL i tried it out and hated it. I believe HoN is far more superior.
I already know the guys i am going to play sc2 day in and day out at the evenings. wifey just calls me silly with a smile “no matter how big boys get, hey fucking keeep playing” right she is

…es of a 16 year old anymore but hey my buddies grow as well so we grew up with the computers and games and shit so sure we gonna buy and sure we are going to play 4 fun mostly, no illusion about that we won’t achieve some koreans aps anymore but there are so many stupid kids out there it does not matter what game you play there is always someone stupid enough to beat on. Sorry for 2ndpost but the editor is kinda sensitivy to linebreaks i guess.
LOL has no chance. poor user interface, very unattractive graphics. As far as dota-type games go HON is king. clean interface. smooth gameplay. nice graphics, decent chat and gamefinding system, which is supposedly going to be even smoother when matchmaking is finished. I wouldnt even worry about LOL.

So i think HoN.. best thing a team could do with the dota concepts… nice grafic improvement new heros, then i tested LoL and i thought wtf.. whats that?(i almost had hard lags, the whole game-could be fault of my computer) the game dont looks as clear as HoN, and the gameplay and grafics feel bad.. u ever have these outlines on your hero… and “lol” when u look at the creeps of LoL u get the feel they took some Monsters of Super Mario Nintendo
Gamestyle is ok and they had nice hero ides, but my conclusion is !!! HON !!! better- made- game- and concept.
As a dota player (not pro but i play ok)
I must say I love HoN. It’s got a lot of potential but right now on the beta apart form balancing issues that will be dealt with in time, I think HoN is missing something important League of Legends already nailed: n00b-friendly.
As all of you know the dota and HoN communities are very aggressive. Everyone I know that tried to get into HoN that never played dota b4 ended up quitting because of the aggressiveness.
HoN needs a tutorial or an offline training mode to get new ppl into the game.
Finally there’s 1 last thing HoN should have as well that LoL already has. Recommended items (DEPENDING ON CHARACTER). The recommended items in HoN are general items that work +- for everyone. They should make a recommended items tab with character specific items (a tab that adapts to whatever char u use).
I’m fairly new to HoN (around 40 games or so) and I still waste too much time looking at items.
The only advantage I see in LoL over HoN is the fact that it’s free. 30$ for HoN is a good price imo though and I’ll probably pay it.
About diablo3 and sc2. Out of those 2 titles the only one that might steal the community away is SC2 when a new dota version is made for it (when not if, we all know its a matter of time). But the thing is SC2 will have limitations to what u can “design” on the map editor. HoN doesn’t have those limitations and allows the game to be played in multiple maps.

Until Diablo comes out, then I’ll most likely have a diablo playing schedule with a party, play starcraft in the rest of my (dwindling) spare time and… well who am I kidding, I’m not going to have that much time to play HoN XD.
HON plays just like dota. hence, BORING. True, it gives better graphics and better gameplay, but it’s just the same old thing.
LOL at least give something new and interesting to play. It does derive from dota, but it doesn’t just copy and paste it like HON does.
You guys are so aggresive against LoL, HoN ripped everything off DotA and you die hard fanboys are going nuts omfg its the best game in the world, you guys should be saying DotA is the best game in the world then, i’ve played LoL and HoN, LoL is amazing since it did start from scratch unlike HoN… so chillax your sacks and stop bagging out HoN, jeebers !
all the fans waiting for this game are hard-core DotA players from Warcraft 3, its going to pretty much the same game, but with better graphics
Well i played dota for 6 years. So i’m pretty elite dota player and mostly hardcore. BUT, yes but, LOL is way better then hon in my opinion. One simple reason, it doesnt end in a tantrum of one of the teams. Lol has a very dynamic graphical engine and way more team effort then HON. Not saying HON is bad, but if most hardcore dota would even try LOL for 1 week they wouldnt go back. I played dota since guinsoo and stay loyal. Guinsoo made dota, so a guinsoo made a better dota, not a copy of it.
gotta say…. LOL is juz not my kind of thing juz cause i don’t really understand the game HoN is more familiar to me maybe cause of the newer versions of DoTA and probably cause the loading is WAYYY faster and the whole system just feels more like DoTA in my opinion
well…u juz gotta see how many ppl is playing dota and majority of them will like HoN and some new non-dota player also enjoyed playing this game.I think this game will last long like DotA does but HoN needs to add up more heroes.
TheMeanderer is dead wrong most hardcore players would go to HoN and stay, LoL may be different but its difference makes it suck hard. HoN4life.

I have played dota since b4 they took away riki’s deathward. AND I have cracked out on Diablo 1, 2, SC and any other blizzard title with less respect towards WoW. And I WILL be buying SC2 and D3.
HoN will still be played though when I’m not playing those 2 games, and HoN will be played prolly at least 1-4 games a day weekends more.
I Need my “Dota” fix and the new blizz titles will not fill it as entirely as HoN will. IMO
LoL is pretty bad compared to HoN. I tried it, and really, HoN owns LoL with both hands tied, and eyes closed.
HoN games take 30-60 min max
Diablo is endless
SC2 online game takes somewhere between 10-50 min, so on a day you could squeeze in about 40 games, 20 HoN and 20 online SC2 and still get 4 hours of sleep.
Working and other non-important IRL activities are naturally not done as they’re a proletarian trend that will pass
oh as for LoL, hmm let’s see: we have a heal that can be used whenever I feel like it, towers that are untankable at max level, and super creeps that do more damage than 6 damage items on max lvl hero ,but…it’s loowks pwetty
so y that’s basically the only thing going right for LoL

LoL seriously looks like digimon and pokemon morphed into a crapload of char, HoN actually has way better animation than dota, and finding games is way better because it does not use another client like Garena to host games etc. I am quite sure that Hon will develop a lot more heroes in time, give it some time, DotA took wat, almost a decade for 100 heroes?

i hope that people keep playing when Diablo III comes out. i’m definitely buying that and Starcraft II, but that won’t keep me from playing Heroes of Newerth and annihilating noobs.
