Beta late than never

So it’s been a few days since open beta  and even less since the new hero chipper was released. What we’ve seen is a huge rise in player numbers, so much so that last weekend the servers were overloaded to the extent it was impossible to find to start a game.
What does this mean ? Well S2 games have said that they underestimated the amount of players signing up through open beta, at the moment their servers seem to be under control, however the true test will be next weekend when the majority of players log on.

Another issue has been effecting a lot of players, this is the issue with updating to the latest patch. Some players will find their clients crashing halfway through this process. There are currently two solutions to this, the first being un-installing HoN and then reinstalling the latest client from their website, the second is renaming the log.txt in the Heroes of Newerth folder to tos.txt. If log.txt does not exist simply create a blank text file called tos.txt, then proceed to run the hon updater from the same folder.

So if you’ve managed to sort out your crashing problems and you’ve also managed to find a server to play on or you just updated, you will notice a new hero has been added to the pool. Heroes-Newerth.com did a short post about this hero the other day, but if you didn’t check it out or fancy seeing some more ‘Chipper’ action here is a video a friend of mine made. Be sure to watch it in HD, enjoy!

Pandamonium the upcoming Heroes of Newerth hero!

So the S2 dev team have been busy at work yet again. Their latest addition to the game comes in the form of a fury kung fu master named Pandamonium. Currently he is in testing phase which means if you want to try him out for yourselves you’ll have to download the test client.

From our experience Pandamonium is very enjoyable to play, and probably not so enjoyable playing against!

We’ve made a cheeky video for those of you curious, enjoy!

Pandamonium

Flurry
Flurry

Pandamonium unleashes devastating physical attacks on all opponents in front of him, pushing them, along with himself, in the direction he faces.

Flick:
Flick

Placing his enemies where he sees fit, Pandamonium flicks a target foe into the air, causing them to land behind him. Upon landing, the target foe is slowed and has reduced armor.

Cannon Ball
Cannon Ball

Pandamonium throws himself into the air, damaging all nearby enemies when he lands. Any enemies he lands on are stunned. If he doesn’t have any enemies to soften his fall, he gets stuck in the ground temporarily.

and an Ulimate called

Face Smash
Face Smash

Pandamonium beats a target enemy unit senseless, disabling it while he unleashes four extra-powerful attacks on it over several seconds.

Soul Reaper vs Kongor, we know who wins. (now fixed)

The other day one of our visitors commented on our Soul Reaper hero page.
This comment basically stated that Soul Reaper’s ultimate (Demonic Execution) worked on Kongor.
Intrigued we tried it out and it worked.

What this means

-With a Soul Reaper on your team it will take half the time to kill Kongor.
-Soul Reaper’s Ultimate is now the highest damage dealing spell in the game reaching excess of 9k damage (even more with Staff of the Master)

Should it be fixed or was this intentional?

We think this is a bug, it’s implication is fairly huge, making it possible to kill Kongor in under 10 seconds with a reasonably leveled team. Making the dangerous task of killing Kongor, while watching your backside, a breeze.

In terms of fair play and balancing we think Soul Reaper ‘s ultimate should be corrected as to not deal damage to Kongor.

Either way, whether this “bug” is intentional or an accident, Heroes of Newerth player’s will prioritize Soul Reaper over other heroes as to give their team the advantage.

The new Scout in action!

Here is a video we found on YouTube(below) of the new Scout in action.

We really like the new buff Flurry that he gets after breaking vanish, +300% Attack Speed is tasty!
