Scout guide by NomedSoul

Trained since youth to be swift,
silent, and deadly, Scouts spend
much of their lives deep in the wild,
apart from their brethren. After the
alliance with the Beast Horde, they
learned yet more ways of the wild,
and turned all their craft to defeating
the Hellbourne. Though many view them
as aloof, none doubt the importance of
Scouts in the war against the daemons
,as the countless enemy corpses, dead
by a single blow, attest.

Your basic item choice would be:

Value 450
Passive Bonuses
+6 Strength
+ 1 pack of Runes of the Blight and 1 Mana potion
__________________________________________________________
First priority, after you chose one of the side lanes – don’t go mid if you don’t HAVE to, you should buy yourself
MARCHERS. Buy them to your stash, don’t leave the line.
When you get 2nd lvl – take Electric Eye, but don’t run for placing the ward near the rune just right away. Wait
until enemies get closer to your tower, and then Vanish and run to the rune. Place the ward near a Tree (if top rune),
or near cliff side (if bottom rune).
!!!PLACE THE WARD!!! Don’t ignore this part – ward makes informed on your enemy
movements on the river, so you, and especially your not invisible pal on the line would become really difficult to gank.
You should constantly annoy your weakest (by HP) opponent by harrasing him – vanish, wait for a good hit, and strike.
Just watch out for you mana pool not get too low that you would be unable to run for it.
Try to last hit creeps and deny your own creeps too – this seems to be giving exp.
If you have a good mate on a line – you’d probably get first blood - good mates are:
– very imbalanced. kill kill kill kill kill kill everyone together

and so on… as you may have noticed – they are Stunners/Nukers – they should stun the target you’ve been hitting in your
Vanish-Hit’n'run pattern, then nuke him, and if he’s not dead – you’ll finish him off. Just don’t get yourself killed, you can,
practically, never leave stealth – just wait for cool down, so you can hit and re-stealth.
Worst enemies i’ve noted are:
these, together:

this guy is dangerous – very powerful aoe nukes and loads of hp:

he can see you if you are wounded badly:

and he can finish you off:

and

are bad too – they counter you for a long period, so that others can whack you to death
The fun is, that everyone is dangerous for you. So be smart. You are a menace for everyone also.
Main rule – JUST BE CAREFUL) Don’t let those slowpokes kill you, and then stab them in the back after
slowing them with ulti.
Speaking about ultimate – It’s very strong – loads of damage and snare, but it will shoot only visible target,
so… Vanish, run around trees so enemy doesn’t see you un-stealth – shoot ultimate while he’s creeping,
or otherwise makes himself visible for a long period. then vanish and attack – use your brains,
attack, re-cloak, attack, re-cloak and stalk him – he won’t get away.
So, what i meant to say – Don’t just steal with ultimate, deal your portion of damage too.
You should try to gather these items:
steamboots – strength

shieldbreaker

or instead of shieldbreaker, go for mana burning or lighningstrikes – whatever suites you.
I prefer armor reduction.
Then build Wingbow

Slash

and
Brutalizer

Some tricky guys buy him several Riftshards, so he, theoretically, will crit several times on attack

but i am unsure.
That’s, basically, it. Try, sneak, kill and ambush. And post your comments too.
PS.
If there is

idiot in enemy team, buy yourself Bound eye

and pwn him with the help of your nukers and controllers.
He’ll whelp and nag, and scream that you are “**** MH!!!!$%&$&%^!!!!”
That’s so sweet)
PSPS.
Grab some homecoming stones to shatter the dreams of Bloodhunter and Thunderbringer
IF YOUR ASS IS ON FIRE – run for it, prefferably from a safe spot teleporting to the fountain.
Nomed Soul, Thank you for this guide, it helped me ALOT. I used him only two times and I did pretty good with him. But in the end of late game, i lost cuhz of team lol. well anyways Tnx again, item build is okay, but takes forever when trying to tech up for shield breaker, but it works nice.
This is AWFUL. Start off with str item instead of Agi? Riftshards when you already have a crit? Do you have no idea how this mechanic works? Buy an eye even though your wards can see stealth? NOT maxing out Vanish Asap?
You have NO idea what you’re talking about.
my itembuild: Phaseboots,S&Y,Radiance,Slayer,Battlefury,Vladimirs
Bownzy use HoN names >.> this isn’t Dota ffs. Anyways I surely wouldn’t go riftshards. Enhanced Marchers, then depending on other team mid game I would go for HoTBL or Shaman’s Head. If we are doing really good however I would go offensive a hack and slash and maybe a stormspirit for having an extra cc and run speed. I would have everyone carry wards no matter period end of story.
*sigh* start off with a ring of the teacher, get marchers, upgrade to phase or wateva, finish vlads, H&S, wingbow and ur pwning.
bownzy what is “Slayer” ? all other items i know.
least thing u can do for the real creator.
And MaryOach u shouldnt use HoN names since most items are stolen from Dota!! So its ok in fact its encouraged to use Dota names
I usually go eye first point to put up @ runes, and I’m always in my lane before the creeps come.
Then I just max out vanish and another point in eye, after that it’s disarm.
Itembuild usually goes enh marchers, slash, hack&slash(for hp and slow), then I get myself a brutalizer. If the fight is still going on (which it usually isn’t), I go for teh wingbow.
I usually go for enhanced marchers,
After that, go for runed axe. it will make you kill creeps like hell which you will need for your other items.
Go for Hack and slash and after that a wingbow.
And a nullstone and shieldbreaker are also quite usefull.
Goeasy, i wouldnt recommend anyone to use DoTa names, this is heroes of newerth, not dota, it only confuses players. go play Warcraft III dota otherwise..
HoN might have gotten all these from DotA, but its diffrent now. If you want to refer to DotA do it with some brackets. Its really getting me confused e.g; Runed Axe and Battle Fury
wtf
get electric eye first and ward both top and bottom before creeps come and max out stealth
UR BUILD IS AWFUL
the way i play scout is alot different i get eye to ward for runes for team and then get vanish then dex and max vanish asap. at lvl 7 u can start to gank with a felow, at lvl 12 u will be a terminator if someone is creep killing by themselves run to them uncloak marks shot run in and bam dead u will be able to control the game this way because there all to scared to push by themselves when they get 2 people marks shot 1 so he runs and kill the other guy.
PS push towers hard at lvl 14-17 with a runed axe u will creep kill like crazy, if u wish to hav my item build plz email me at heath_l_john@hotmail.com ty
first of all, ward the tablets first with ur electric eye, then get vanish. then max out disarm because if u upgrade vanish you’ll be out of mana way too quickly early game. then haras and annoy the enemy heroes in your lane. then get vanish full and then electric eye last and then stats.
For itams get elder parasite so that you have super attack speed and gain health while attacking someone, then get hellflower so that u silence them, they take 20% more damage and you have super mana regen, so that you gain mana whilst in 4th level vanish mode. then get brutalizer so you have extra damage and stun them so u have and even more of an edge when attacking them and you have such ultimate attack speed.
Another thing to do with scout is to spam his ulti everywhere. it has such a low cd and in 2 shots that guy has to go back at which point you can pick him off. you’ll also have such great mana regen that u can do this all u want.
with this build itll be GG.
HoN pro honestly if you were a pro you would know you don’t need to ward both top and bottom, I agree that he left this out of this guide and he should have put it in there. The reason you only need to ward one spot is because an experienced mid will know every two min to go get rune and if it isn’t at one place it will be at the other
I always put my steam boots at intelligence, so I get more mana. That means that I can stay in stealth more in early game.
for start buy 4 minor totem, 2 health pots, 1 mana pot. then start to buy steamboots. then i usualy go for brutalizer. i cant see the meaning with riftshrds…. u already have crit, put your money on something better! then u can buy anything from recomended =)
awsome. fits me perfect!!!! owning like hell. ty m8
jesus tap dancing christ.
everyone builds different than others, especially if you are good enough to stop using cookie cutter builds and start using your brain.
since i pub a lot i start with: courier, runes, mana pot, then i fill the rest with minor totems = 4x all stats for 200 g
in the lane buy your boots first, and use the courier to give them to you. upgrade the courier whenever you can since no one else will anyway(always buy the courier, most pubs wont get you one). then you keep farming the creep waves for a lifetube. once you get that you can handle a few creeps from the forest, maybe get a gank on your lane, and keep killing creep waves until you can finish off steamboots (set them to strength for hp and toggle to int when low on mana to regain some faster). after that you should be able to forest much easier. forest forest and kill creeps in the lane until you get your runed axe. if you can gank a lane, great, if its too risky, keep farmin. after runed axe you can breeze thru all forms of farming. when your not scouting around for ganks, farm the forest. grab your whispering helm once you can. after that, its time for the best item at this point IMO. SHIELDBREAKER. you can now sucessfulyy easy mode kill most of the other team if yours did their job and didnt feed all day. if your game doesnt end after the shieldbreaker, i recommend a shrunken head (bkb). why? well, even easier killing. no worries about magic damage, no stuns or slows or anything hitting you, basically free kills.
for your abilites, its simple. wards first, then max vanish and wards. at level 9, get disarm. then on 10 and eleven, put both into the ult. after that, disarm until 16, which is ult, then rest into stats. i know i just got flamed for not putting lvl 6 into ult. (watch any high tier match, and see what lvl a good scout gets his ult. the reason for the late ult is that vanish and eyes help your surviviablity, and your teams. and the reason for disarm earlier is the easier farming. no scout wastes and ult on creeps, and untill lvl 10 or 11 you shouldnt be doing a whole lot of teamfighting / heavy ganking anyway. if scout doesnt get good farm early, hes useless, think about that next time you gank all day, and get a few kills, and die a few times aswell. going in for a gank here and there is good, but only after you get some good farm should you put most of your time into ganking.
oh and the item build is simple. courier because no one else will. start items are self explanatory i hope. steam boots because scout is squishy as a bitch. runed axe means you can farm ANYTHING you want afterwards, while still putting out good damage, and giving you regen so you can KEEP farming and KEEP staying in the lane and KEEP ganking. the shield breaker is because scout is ALL melee. you dont need slows, your already faster than them. you dont need brutalizer stuns, you can use eyes to silence, and your faster than them. oh and the whispering helm/lifesteal is essential on all carries, if you dont get it, fine, be retarded. the BKB is at the very end, and if you get that far without winning, the other team doesnt know when to concede. the BKB is to avoid most incoming damage, all stuns, slows DoT’s or anything that can hurt you or keep you back. sorry if you dont agree, but this is the best way to do it IMO. PS: remember that there really isnt any reason not to cycle out some of the cookie items for items more fitting for the situation. dont be a noob and continue to get damage items when you are getting stun locked or just getting raped by magic damage. your a carry, your job is to stay alive just as much as it is to deal damage.
Rayne should make a third scoot guide.
is scout is traxex in Dota??
I Would First Add Improve Dex since u wont kill anyone with vanish in the first lvl and with tat u can farm faster
It’s not about runes, it’s about saving ur team. those 2 wards give’s u control of what runes ur enemy gets and where they are. Huge advantage for ur team. imo.
