Thunderbringer guide by Qwert

Thunderbringer

Tb’s role in a team is to stay from harms way in a battle and deal massive magical damage. He easily has one of the best nukes in the game atm (blast of lightning). He is incredibly useful early, mid, and late game due to his lightning rod. Also, one of the easier heroes to play, but to play him to his full potential takes so practice with micro-ing your hero to nuke go back, nuke go back, etc.

Spells

Chain Lightning

The Thunderbringer zaps a target enemy unit
with volatile lightning. The lightning then bounces
to additional nearby enemy units.
Level 1 : 5 targets, 85 damage per unit
Level 2 : 7 targets, 100 damage per unit
Level 3 : 9 targets, 115 damage per unit
Level 4 :1 5 targets, 130 damage per unit
Mana cost 65/72/79/86
Cooldown 2 seconds

Note: Very very useful skill to have at level 1. Cheap and low CD nuke. Good for getting that red hp creep and maybe some others around it. This is essential for late game as its main use is to proc lightning rod.

Blast of Lightning

Thunderbringer blasts a target enemy
unit with lightning, dealing moderate
damage and very briefly stunning it.
The area around the target is lit up briefly,
giving vision and revealing nearby stealthed units.
Level 1 : Deals 100 damage, stuns for 0.1 seconds
Level 2 : Deals 175 damage, stuns for 0.1 seconds
Level 3 : Deals 275 damage, stuns for 0.1 seconds
Level 4 : Deals 350 damage, stuns for 0.1 seconds
Mana cost 75,95,115,135
Cooldown 7 seconds

Note: Your main nuke throughout the whole game. One of the best nukes with its high damage, ministun, reveals stealthed units, and 7 sec cd. This skill has a fairly long casting range so stay back in a battle and nuke! Never go into the epicenter of a battle.

Lightning Rod

Enemies near Thunderbringer act as lightning rods,
taking damage every time he casts a spell.
The damage is proportional to their current Health.
Level 1 : Deals 5% of enemys current health
Level 2 : Deals 7% of enemys current health
Level 3 : Deals 9% of enemys current health
Level 4 : Deals 11% of enemys current health
Mana cost n/a
Cooldown n/a

Note: This skill is the reason why TB is one of the best casters in the game so far. He scales extremely well late game with this skill. It procs ever time you cast a spell and items do not count.

Lightning Storm

Thunderbringer strikes every enemy hero
on the map with lightning, dealing damage
and revealing the area around them briefly.
This ability is boosted by Staff of the Master.
Level 1 : Deals 210 damage to all enemys on the map
Level 2 : Deals 335 damage to all enemys on the map
Level 3 : Deals 460 damage to all enemys on the map
Mana Cost 225/325/450
Cooldown 120 seconds

Note: Global nuke, that is already enough! Good for catching those red hp enemy heroes that ran a little too far. You should usually use this when you know there is one hero that will die, but there are also other uses. If you have a team that can initiate well use it right at the start of the initiation to maximise the amount of damage dealt. It can also be used to reveal all enemy heroes on the map which can be crucial.

Lvl 17-25: Stats/ Chain Lightning

Note: Start off with one chain lightning to have those easy creep kills. Then, max blast of lightning asap and getting lightining rod and lightning storm whenever possible. The reason to not max chain lightning is because the increase in damage is barely noticeable, but the increase in mana per cast is something you can’t afford if you spam it every 2 sec in a team clash. But it is all personal preference to get stats or max chain.

Items:

Beginning: - 2 Pretenders crown. 1 crushing claw/Mark of the novice. Runes of Blight or 2 enchanted totems for the mana regen
- Finish up your fortified bracelet/ talisman of exile. get marchers, and a bottle

Note: The bracelets and talismans are for that extra stats for the mana/hp you really need. Marchers is needed on EVERY hero it is the golden item! A bottle is for burst regeneration which comes in handle when you need that extra mana for a nuke.

Mid: – aim for a sustainer, then enhanced marchers, then proceed to sacrificial stone

Note: Sustainer is a very good item for your lane because of its regeneration. Enchanted Marchers can save you or help you net a kill with its speed burst. Sacrificial stone is one of the best items on TB he can get kills mid game easily which will rack up easy charges and it provides hp/mana and regen which are all essential.

Late: Staff of master

Note: Very good item because again it gives the HP/mana you really need AND it increase the power of your ultimate, lightning storm.

Basic Gameplay: Learn how to KITE. Kiting is when you constantly stay a safe distance away from enemies but still damage them. Kiting with his nukes is what makes TB so strong.

Conclusion: Go try him out with my build! Its FUN I promise!
